Business

At Harris Academy Clapham, our Business curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy. Rooted in the academy’s core values of Commitment, Ambition, Resilience and Empathy, our intent is to develop confident, curious, and capable learners who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

We believe that Business education should:

- Foster entrepreneurial thinking and financial literacy, encouraging students to take initiative, solve problems creatively, and understand the impact of enterprise in local and global contexts.

- Promote integrity and ethical decision-making, helping students to navigate the complexities of business with honesty and responsibility.

- Cultivate self-belief and ambition, empowering students to pursue their goals with resilience and confidence.

- Strive for excellence, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential through high-quality teaching and purposeful learning experiences.

- Encourage a global perspective, enabling students to appreciate diverse cultures, markets, and business practices in an interconnected world.

Our curriculum is inclusive, aspirational, and designed to grow with the department. As we expand to include GCSE and KS3 pathways, our intent remains focused on preparing students for further education, apprenticeships, and careers in business, finance, and enterprise.

We currently offer the following courses as part of our Business offer:

Enterprise BTEC Award (KS4)

The BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise provides a practical and engaging foundation in business studies. Students explore real-world enterprises, develop business plans, and apply their learning through project-based assessments. The course nurtures key employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, while reinforcing the academy’s values through every unit of study.

Through this qualification, students gain:

- A deep understanding of how businesses start, grow, and succeed.

- Experience in analysing market research, financial documents, and promotional strategies.

- Opportunities to reflect on their own strengths and areas for development as future entrepreneurs or business professionals.
