About Personal Development

Personal Development Intent – The Clapham Way

At Clapham, we believe that Everything is Possible when you CARE. Our personal development programme is built on the values of Commitment, Ambition, Resilience, and Empathy, ensuring every student grows into a confident, compassionate, and future-ready individual. Through The Clapham Way fof Personal Development, we weave these values into every aspect of school life — from the curriculum to enrichment — so that students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Ambition – Future Readiness & Life Skills

We inspire ambition through careers education, life skills, and preparation for success beyond school. Students develop confidence and aspiration to achieve their goals, supported by opportunities that broaden horizons. Commitment drives students to pursue excellence and take ownership of their future.

Resilience – Character, Citizenship & Curriculum

We embed resilience through character education and active citizenship across all subjects and experiences. Students explore values such as integrity and perseverance through curriculum content, classroom culture, and enrichment opportunities. Commitment underpins this pillar, as students are encouraged to consistently engage and contribute to their learning and community.

Empathy – Wellbeing, Inclusion & Identity

We foster empathy through a culture of belonging, diversity, and emotional wellbeing. Our approach ensures every learner feels valued, supported, and empowered to express their identity. Commitment is reflected in our dedication to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Entry, Evolve, Excel – Our PD Journey

Our Personal Development programme is designed as a structured journey, guiding students through three progressive stages. This approach ensures that every learner builds a strong foundation before advancing to deeper engagement and ultimately achieving mastery. The stages below outline how students grow from understanding our CARE values to applying them in leadership and life beyond school.

Entry: Students begin by understanding CARE values and developing foundational skills in wellbeing, character, and citizenship.

Evolve: Students deepen their engagement through leadership roles, enrichment activities, and applying CARE values in real-life contexts.

Excel: Students demonstrate mastery by leading initiatives, mentoring peers, and showcasing readiness for life beyond school through ambition-driven goals.
