Enrichment

Every child deserves the opportunity to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.  Extra-curricular activities are of the upmost importance in our curriculum.  At Harris Academy Clapham we offer a wide range of clubs and every student is encouraged to do at least one after school enrichment club each week.

EnrichmentFrom Chess to Table Tennis, Basketball to Crochet, Debate to Band, there is something for everyone and we encourage all students to take advantage of the vast array of clubs and opportunities open to them before school, at lunchtimes, and after school.

The extensive range of activities on offer are constantly under review, with additional clubs often coming into fruition because of our students’ and teachers’ individual passions.

The list below is by no means prescriptive of all that is on offer at our school but provides an idea of the breadth of co-curricular activities available to our students.

  • Sport - Football, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Athletics

  • Creative - Art, Drama, Poetry, Crochet, Band, School Choir, Dance Club

  • Humanities – Debate, Film Club, Latin,

  • STEM - Chess, Math Revision, Sparx Club, Science Club,

At Harris Academy Clapham, we are committed to providing opportunities for educational and cultural enrichment as well as encouraging pupils to develop friendships beyond the classroom.

Our programme of trips and visits is designed to show our pupils the very best of London, Great Britain and the rest of the world.  Trips include:

  • Residential rewards trip
  • Year group trips (Summer Term)
  • Subject-specific trips
  • Club-specific trips

Cadets

Harris Academy Clapham offers both a junior and senior police cadets enrichment each week. Students can sign up for this on a first come first served basis. Students will be invited when they first start at the academy and the club will then run a waiting list for those that wish to sign up later on.

Lambeth Volunteer Police Cadets are a uniform youth group for young people age 13-18. Police Cadets meet once a week during term time where they learn about citizenship and policing in a fun and supportive environment. Volunteer Police Cadets also support local policing through work with Safer Neighbourhood Teams with community events, crime prevention operations such as bike marking and test purchasing or supporting major central policing events across London.

Police Cadets are encouraged and supported to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award which can be offered in full through their activities with the Volunteer Police Cadets, as well as through the Academy.

We also have a small junior cadet unit at Harris Academy Clapham for year 7s, the perfect introduction to policing for those considering joining the senior unit in year 8.
