Mathematics

Students at Harris Academy Clapham will receive a creative and ambitious mathematics curriculum that will stimulate their curiosity and prepare them well for their futures as global citizens.
Our curriculum will enable students to develop a true passion for Mathematics, allowing them to experience the power and beauty of the subject. Students will be equipped with the skills to evaluate critically the information they will encounter in adult life and ensure they make informed decisions about its validity, accuracy and appropriateness.
Our curriculum will provide students with the opportunity to:
- develop the fluency that underpins understanding through deliberate and repeated practice of fundamental skills
- apply mathematics knowledge to a range of contexts
- develop their thinking habits such as enquiry, conjecture, argument and generalisation
- become experts in mathematical disciplinary literacy, using vocabulary correctly, and expressing themselves with clarity and confidence
- experience the joy of mathematics, while appreciating that it is a discipline that depends on purposeful endeavour, respectful communication and the ability to persevere
Our curriculum is designed both to challenge limiting assumptions about who can succeed at mathematics and to remove any barriers we encounter to student attainment.
