Executive Principal's Welcome

Astin ID Badge CloseupHarris Academy Clapham is a place where students are encouraged to be exceptional. We believe that ‘everything is possible’ when you CARE.

Our core values of commitment, ambition, resilience and empathy (CARE) are at the heart of our work.

Our students work hard and we fully support them to turn their dreams into reality. Our aim is that they will leave having excelled, ready to make a positive contribution to the world, and filled with the self-belief that ‘everything is possible’.

We want all of our students to enjoy their education and to achieve their true potential. In every subject they are taught a deep level of knowledge and skills to fully prepare them for their future lives. Our curriculum has a deliberate focus on shaping the character of our students. Throughout the Clapham academic, enrichment and pastoral curriculum we focus on our key values:

  • Commitment – to being successful
  • Ambitious – for the future
  • Resilient – enough to keep going, even when its hard
  • Empathy – to take care of and look after each other

Every child deserves the opportunity to experience exciting new challenges outside the classroom. At Clapham it is a core expectation that every student does at least one after school club and most do many more. Students can choose from almost fifty extra curricular clubs; this will grow further as we welcome more students to the academy.

Our brand-new building is purpose-built for our students. They are educated with us until Year 11, after which they will be able to apply to Harris Clapham Sixth Form which opened in September 2021. The two academies work very closely together and are overseen by our Executive Principal to make sure our students are fully prepared for the next stage in their education.

Our staff are justly proud of the achievements since Harris Academy Clapham opened in 2020. It is our absolute priority that the aspirations and needs of each individual child are met. We select teachers who are experts in their subjects and they are highly committed. We invest heavily in their training to ensure their teaching excellence continues to go from strength to strength.

Our students appreciate the opportunities we create for them. We are very proud of them and the way they relish participating in every aspect of life within the academy. Please do contact us if you would like to find out about a place for your child or a career with us.

David Astin, Executive Principal
